Joan Jett reveals Bad Reputation PSA featuring Alexis Krauss, Sia, Eleanor Friedberger and more
Joan Jett has roped in a cavalcade of major names for a public service announcement about women's rights, urging viewers to vote in the forthcoming American general elections.
The PSA features a raft of musicians, albeit briefly, including - but certainly not limited to - Alexis Krauss (Sleigh Bells), Carrie Brownstein, Eleanor Friedberger, Sia, Alexa Chung, Lesley Gore, Cass McCombs and Alia Shawkat as well as a variety of cultural figures.
Accompanying the video there are a series of facts and figures and credits preluded by a brief intro:
"In 2013, there were more laws passed to limit women’s reproductive rights than in the entire previous DECADE. Many of us may have access to good health care, but our experience being a woman – and our rights – shouldn’t depend on our zip code. Our sisters in Texas, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Ohio, Arkansas, and so many other states don’t have what we have. The most regressive, anti-woman, anti-voting, anti-equality laws are being passed on the state level. This is why the MIDTERMS are so important."
The USA is set to head to the polls 4 November to vote on a range of candidates, from mayoral races to state governors, senators and the entire House Of Representatives. It's held midway through Obama's second term, and could set the tone for the remainder of his presidency currently marred by Senate and Congress blocks, filibusters and sparrings.
