Jimin from BTS overtakes Drake on SoundCloud with most plays in 24 hours
BTS' Jimin has knocked Drake's SoundCloud record of most plays in 24 hours out of the park with his first solo single "Promise".
Drake held the record for getting the most streams in 24 hours on SoundCloud when he uploaded his Pusha T diss "Duppy Freestyle" last year, raking in over four million plays in a day.
Forbes reports that Jimin, from Korean supergroup BTS, has broken the record held by the Canadian rapper, and set the bar higher, double the height of Drake's infact, after receiving 8.2 million plays on his solo single "Promise" in 24 hours.
"Promise" was released on 31 December 2018 as Jimin's first solo single. Produced by Slow Rabbit, the track has become a hit in the blink of an eye, raking in 16.5 million plays in just five days.
BTS have collectively broken multiple records throughout their global domination in 2018, including YouTube's most views in 24 hours on a video for their track "IDOL", which was soon overtaken by Ariana Grande's "thank u, next" video.
