jennylee releases cover of Daniel Johnston's "Some Things Last A Long Time"
Warpaint's jennylee is back with her second cover of the year, a rendition of Daniel Johnston's "Some Things Last A Long Time".
"Some Things Last A Long Time" featured on the late Daniel Johnston's 2006 album Welcome To My World.
jennylee's cover follows her cover of Fugazi's "I’m So Tired" that landed in March. Her Johnston cover featured on her 2020 Record Store Day 7", and has been made available on digital platforms for the first time today (30 October).
jennylee says of the song, "Years ago I was asked to participate on a tribute album for Daniel Johnston. I’ve always loved his music and overall innocence he conveyed through his music and art. The tribute never happened, and I decided to carry on, see what I could come up with one rainy day in Pasadena. I had previously written a piano piece and started singing the lyrics to "Some Things Last A Long Time" over it.. It was fun to try and capture my own innocence with this song and make it relatable to life experiences I have had.. Love, loss, being in the moment .. and accepting what is.."
In December 2019, jennylee revealed that she was back in the studio with Warpaint. Back in January, Warpaint released new single "The Brakes" for The Turning soundtrack - their first new release since 2016's Heads Up album.
