Jeff Tweedy sent a video message to the Wilco listening party at End of the Road Festival
A select bunch of Wilco fans got a first listen of the band's new record Schmilco a week ahead of release at an exclusive listening party at End of the Road Festival.
And everyone got a big surprise when Jeff himself sent a personal A/V message to the party which took place late this morning at the festival's TIpi tent.
"Hello End of the Road Festival," Tweedy said. "Thank you for taking the time out of your festival schedule to check out the new Wilco album... I think it’s the first time that humans outside of rock critics and family members have listened to the record - so thank you for that. We would have played it at our festival this year but we didn’t have our festival this year so End of the Road is the next best thing."
The album was recorded at Wilco's Chicago studio - The Loft - and is produced by Jeff Tweedy and Tom Schick. “I think this record is ‘joyously negative’” Tweedy has said of Schmilco. “It’s sad in a lot of ways but not in any that reach a conclusion of doom or hopelessness… I just had a lot of fun being sour about the things that upset me.”
