Jeff Tweedy performs fan favourites from Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot at secret End of the Road set
Wilco's Jeff Tweedy treated a select few to five songs during an incredibly intimate set this afternoon at End of the Road Festival.
The singer/songwriter, who’s headlining The Garden Stage this evening, performed three fan favourites from the band’s breakthrough 2001 album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart", "Jesus, Etc" and "I’m The Man That Loves You" alongside two brand new songs - "Having Been Is No Way To Be" and the Noah’s Ark-themed "Let's Go Rain" which inspired much audience participation.
An unknowingly pivotal reason behind Best Fit’s existence (the founders of the website met on Wilco messagboard viachicago.org in 2006), Tweedy joked on stage “way to go The Line Of Best Fit for making this all about themselves. It’s not as if I’ve won a Grammy or anything...”
Tweedy’s set completed a quartet of secret performances on Best Fit’s piano stage including stirring showings from Big Thief, Bella Union signees Penelope Isles, and ex-Yuck frontman Daniel Blumberg.
