Jay Z announces collaboration with New York department store Barneys
Jay Z has announced a collaboration, not with another rapper, but with the luxury department store Barneys – seeing the pair team up with many fashion houses to create a New York inspired collection entitled ‘A New York Holiday’.
Designers from Balenciaga, Rick Owens and Lanvin have helped the rapper and Barneys create a line that includes blankets, leather backpacks, raincoats, and rings all coming in black, white, gold or silver.
A quarter of the proceeds will go to the Shawn Carter Foundation that grants scholarships to socio-economically challenged students.
The products will be showcased and sold in the BNY SCC Gallery – “an immersive space dedicated to the partnership between Barneys New York and Sean Corey Carter” from November 20.
As well as this, Jay Z and Barneys have teamed up for a “interactive holiday installation” in the windows of the department store on Madison Avenue in New York.
