Japanese Breakfast returns with new offering "Essentially"
Japanese Breakfast has shared her first new single in two years, "Essentially".
"Essentially" is the first of two tracks that Michelle Zauner will release through W Hotels' label, and arrives as the first taster of new music since 2017's Soft Sounds from Another Planet.
The new single was recorded in the W Sound Suite at W Bali. On the new single, Zauner says, "I was originally going to record a different song but decided to write something on the fly once I arrived in Bali. I like the challenge of writing and arranging quickly and intuitively sometimes, and I had just bought a native instruments machine and wanted to explore a lot of the sample libraries it came with and work on the synths that were at the studio."
Japanese Breakfast's new single follows on from earlier W Hotel label releases, including Perfume Genius' "Alan", and Amber Mark's "High On Your Love".
