Janelle Monáe postpones live dates for “mandatory vocal rest”
One of the hardest working performers in music today, Janelle Monáe has been forced to scrap a handful of tour dates in order to rest her voice.
Writing on her official website, the singer said she was “under strict doctor’s orders” for “mandatory vocal rest”. Not adhering to this, she says, could “possibly result in damage to my vocal cords”.
Monáe continues: “Unfortunately, this diagnosis means I will have to postpone my coming concerts in Anaheim, San Diego and Phoenix, a fact which truly leaves me heartsick and shaken because I live for this: connecting with you and giving you a one of a kind concert experience. But alas, apparently even the most expertly designed android breaks down sometimes and must recharge.”
Her tour is set to start back up again this weekend in Dallas.
