James Vincent McMorrow releases new track "Gone"
James Vincent McMorrow has released new song "Gone" as his third outing of 2020.
"Gone" follows August's Kenny Beats collaboration "I Should Go" and May's "Headlights".
The new single is produced by McMorrow alongside Paul Epworth and Moon Willis, and is, in his own words, about the "disintegration of relationships".
McMorrow expands, "In my case, the disintegration of my relationship with myself. No song or lyric I’ve ever written has come as close to this one at capturing how I feel about life, how I hear it, my fear of it, my obsession with it, my belligerent belief that I can control it, my quiet acknowledgment in the middle of the night that i will never control a single thing. And there’s nothing wrong with any of it. There’s absolute beauty in embracing the chaos and the decay. I know I was exhausted pretending everything was all right."
The singer/songwriter's releases this year will appear on his forthcoming album, which will follow s 2017's True Care. McMorrow recorded the LP between his home in Dublin, LA, and London, and it features production from Kenny Beats, Paul Epworth, Lil Silva and Patrick Wimberley (Chairlift).
He says of his new album that's yet to be announced, "I have more responsibilities, people and expectations around me than ever, and the world is constantly telling me to change and grow as a person, but I don’t feel any more responsible or capable than I did when I was 18 years old. This album is about embracing the idea that it’s okay to not have things figured out."
