James Holden announces first full UK live tour
James Holden has announced his first full-band UK tour for this Spring, after being convinced by Thom Yorke and Caribou to make the shift from strictly DJ gigs.
Holden was originally lured into the live arena proper - instead of DJ sets and "live performances confined to his own home studio" - by Dan Snaith of Caribou, when he was asked to take part in the Caribou Vibration Ensemble in 2011. Then, after a support slot opportunity with Atoms For Peace, the pieces were moving and Holden was on the way to forming his live-band plans.
Lauded jazz percussionist Tom Page will join Holden for the duration of the tour, which is set to be "an improvised reimagining" of Holden's latest LP, The Inheritors.
Holden is also set to take part in two special shows celebrating the works of legendary American minimalist Terry Riley alongside Luke Abbott and Koreless, with original compositions inspired by Riley's style.
