Jack White refutes harassment claims, appeals with countermotion against Karen Elson restraining order
Earlier this week, it emerged that Jack White‘s ex-wife, singer-songwriter and model Karen Elson, had obtained a restraining order against the White Stripes frontman following an alleged series of harassing emails and texts. Now, White has appealed against the claims, filing a countermotion against Elson.
The original restraining order said that Elson “fears for her and the children’s safety as a result of… harassing emails and text messages”. White’s countermotion reads that “The reason for filing this response is that Mr. White does not want to be portrayed as something he is not, violent toward his wife and children.”
Rolling Stone say that White is appealing against what he labels claims that are ”inflammatory . . . . disingenuous, fraudulent and retaliatory and simply designed to malign him in the public record or to gain an upper hand in this litigation.”
Yesterday, emails from White to Elson surfaced online, in which White character-assassinated one Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.
Elson and White broke up in 2011. The pair are due in court on 29 August for a custody hearing involving their two children.
