Jack White, Patti Smith, Conor Oberst and more announced for New York concert
A New York show has been announced in conjunction with the release of new Coen Brothers film, Inside Llewyn Davis, with Jack White, Patti Smith and more.
According to the New York Times, the benefit concert will take place on 29 September at the city’s Town Hall to coincide with the forthcoming flick.
‘Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis‘, to use the concert’s full name, will feature tributes to the film’s soundtrack performed by White, Smith, Colin Meloy of the Decemberists, Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst, Gillian Welch, Joan Baez and the Avett Brothers, among others.
Stars of the film Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, John Goodman and Stark Sands will also perform.
The concert has been organised by T Bone Burnett, producer of the film’s soundtrack, to raise funds for the National Recording Preservation Society. Inside Llewyn Davis is loosely based around the life of struggling folk-revivalist Dave Van Ronk, centring on the Greenwhich Village in the year 1961.
The film will be released in the UK on the 24 January 2014. A trailer can be watched below.
