Ja Rule's Fyre Festival NFT painting sells for $122,000 at auction
A painting of Fyre Festival's logo commissioned by Ja Rule has been sold as an NFT at auction for $122,000.
The rapper, who co-founded the "luxury" event known as Fyre Festival with Billy McFarland which led to multiple documentaries showcasing the 2017 catastrophic event, has sold an oil painting he commissioned of the festival's logo for around $122,000.
Complex reports that the painting of the Fyre Festival logo, made by Tripp Derrick Barnes, has been hanging in Ja Rule's New Jersey mansion since the Fyre headquarters closed several years ago. Ja Rule told Forbes of the reason behind the auction, "I just wanted that energy out."
Ja Rule revealed on Twitter yesterday (24 March) that the painting sold as an NFT at auction (via Flipkick) for around $122,000. He captioned a screenshot of the final sale price: "Goodnight...".

As Forbes reports, most NFTs are purely digital, but Ja Rule's Fyre logo painting includes a "digital ledger entry for a real-life item".
On top of getting the physical painting, the winning bidder will also receive a note from Ja Rule which reads: "Fuck this painting", and can also put in a request for an autograph.
