Ja Ja Ja Festival 2014 announces full programme
Ja Ja Ja Festival 2014 has announced its full programme. The event will take place 13-15 November at The Lexington and The Great Hall. Tickets are still available from here.
The festival has revealed their spectacular food line-up for the first time, as well as a DIY DJ/production speed-class from Femme-Beat and a range of showcases and discussions from the Nordic Music Video Awards.
Foodwise, both FIKA and former HIM musician Antto Melasniemi x Emilíana Torrini will be filling stomachs. The latter's menu has been discussed and created with the festival's headliner - it includes traditional Icelandic and Finnish cuisine, and Melasniemi's award-winning liquorice chocolate pots. The Nordic Bar will also be serving up Nøgne and Einstök beers and Aquavit cocktails. Full details of the gastronomic delights can be found here.
Femme-Beat is a new DJ school that aims to correct the gender imbalances in production and electronic music by running intensive courses that provide practical skills and networking opportunities. More infor can be found here. It's an initiative put together by Rättviseförmedlingen (translates roughly to The Equalisters), and Ja Ja Ja will feature a talk by Soraya Hashim, the collective's community manager, as well as "book their own 15-minute DJ gig - using Pacemaker and choosing tunes from Spotify for iPad - to try and rock the crowd."
Also revealed is a set of discussions and screenings from the Nordic Music Video Awards. Ola Martin Fjeld from the NMVA will "present a curated selection of some of 2014’s best Nordic music videos", which will precede a panel of André Chocron, Daniel Kragh Jacobsen and the esteemed Jenny Wilson. Moderated by David Knight (Promo News, BUG) they'll discuss "the art of video-making in the YouTube age."
