J. Cole reveals he encouraged Dr. Dre to sign Kendrick Lamar
In a recent Nardwuar interview, J. Cole revealed he told Dr. Dre that he should sign Kendrick Lamar when he was an up-and-coming rapper.
During Nardwuar's interview with J. Cole, which took place earlier this month in Santa Monica, Nadwuar asked J. Cole if he told Dr. Dre to sign an up-and-coming Kendrick Lamar.
After trying to comprehend how Nardwuar got the information, J. Cole said, "The answer is, yes. I did."
J. Cole continued, "I’m not gonna say I was the first to tell him ... When I brought him up to Dre, I was like 'You know what you gotta do', so I went in there working on Detox or whatever ... I was like 'Yo you gotta sign this kid from Compton.'"
"Shout out to Dr. Dre," Cole added. "He made the right decision." Skip to 43:39 to hear J. Cole speak about Dr. Dre and Lamar.
