It looks like Miley Cyrus is launching a collaborative project with boyfriend Cody Simpson
Miley Cyrus' application to trademark the name Bandit and Bardot could be a hint of her new collaborative project with boyfriend Cody Simpson.
The whereabouts of Miley Cyrus' new music has been up in the air following the release of her SHE IS COMING EP in May. When she released the EP, Cyrus said two more were coming, but then she separated from her longtime partner Liam Hemsworth, and had to undergo vocal cord surgery.
Not all has been quiet on Cyrus' side though. In September she teamed up with Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey on "Don't Call Me Angel", and covered Chet Baker's "The Thrill Is Gone" with Jeff Goldblum.
Rolling Stone reports that on 1 December, Smiley Miley Inc. - Cyrus' company that owns her trademarks - applied to trademark the name Bandit and Bardot for a long list of reasons that point towards a new band/collaboration. Some of the requests on the trademark include, "entertainment services, namely, live musical performances by a musical band; entertainment services, namely, live performances by professional singer, musician, and entertainer [and] entertainment, namely, live music concerts."
Cyrus also applied to trademark the name for "musical sound recordings; musical video recordings; pre-recorded CDs, DVDs, audio discs, video discs, and other recorded media featuring music; downloadable audio recordings and downloadable video recordings featuring music; downloadable multimedia files featuring music; Audio and video recordings featuring music, concerts, and entertainment; downloadable ring tones for mobile devices; software applications for mobile devices featuring music and entertainment [and] cases for phones and electronic devices."
Trademark attorney Josh Gerben told Rolling Stone, "If a client directs us to prepare and file a trademark application for the name of a band, this is exactly the type of language we would use in the application. The language used in Miley’s trademark application strongly suggests that she is intending to use Bandit and Bardot as the name of a band."
Rolling Stone also points out that an Instagram account has been set up with the same name. The account originally followed Miley Cyrus, and her boyfriend/singer/songwriter Cody Simpson, but since the article was published yesterday (17 December), the account has unfollowed the two musicians.
