Interpol preview new album with fourth single "Gran Hotel"
Interpol have unveiled a fourth and final preview of their The Other Side of Make-Believe album before its release on Friday (15 July) titled "Gran Hotel".
"Gran Hotel" is the fourth outing from Interpol's new album, following earlier singles "Fables", "Something Changed" and "Toni", and is accompanied by a Malia James-directed video streaming via the band's Facebook page.
Paul Banks says of the single, "The lyrics to "Gran Hotel" tell a story of grief and heartbreak, of a character processing loss. Working with a fantastic camera crew and with the help of two very talented actors, Malia created a powerful video that conveys the events that lead to that loss. It’s a work of art filled with mood and color that we are very proud to share with you."
The Other Side of Make-Believe will follow the band's 2018 album Marauder. Interpol started work on the new album remotely in 2020, and in early 2021 they headed to a rented home in the Catskills before completing the record in North London with Flood and co-producer Alan Moulder.
As well as preparing to release their new album, Interpol have announced Big Shot City – a global exhibition and pop-up shop in collaboration with photographer Atiba Jefferson and Brain Dead Clothing that will run across different dates this week in London, LA, New York, Tokyo and Mexico City. The London event will be open at Truman’s Brewery fromm 15-17 July. Visit interpolnyc.com for more information.
