Inaugural 'International Cassette Store Day' announced for September
Following the success of this weekend’s Independent Label Market in London and Record Store Day earlier in the year, the first-ever International Cassette Store Day has been announced for this coming September.
The event, described as ”a celebration of a physical product that is accessible, fun, cheap and still going strong in the turbulent current musical climate”, has been plotted for an inaugural unveiling on 7 September.
NME say that the likes of Transgressive, Bella Union, Domino, 4AD and Wichita Recordings will be re-releasing cassette albums from At The Drive-In, Flaming Lips, Deerhunter and more, while Kissability, SEXBEAT and others will be putting out cassettes featuring Los Campesinos!, Fucked Up and the like.
International Cassette Store Day will take place on 7 September at London’s Rough Trade East store, as well as in venues across Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo.
