IIRIS reveals video for "Hope" ahead of new EP
Estonian pop merchant IIRIS has unveiled her kaleidoscopic visuals for latest single "Hope".
The video is directed and edited by IIRIS herself. Speaking about the track, she says:
"'Hope' is about irrational lust for someone you shouldn't want and denying it to yourself to the point of splitting yourself into two people wanting different things. It's about a time in my life when hope was confusing. Aren't we all just hoping that everything will go as we wish and that in the end everything would be alright? But it's confusing to feel hope when you don't agree with your own feelings. It's easy to believe the thought-out world around you telling you what you think you should feel. I definitely have been one of those people who have tried to figure everything out, plan everything and stick to my honorable thought-out plans. But if we're not in contact with our feelings then we are more vulnerable to control by someone/something else than ourselves. And I think that the human life is not only about achieving structure, but also about feeling the everlasting movement and the chaotic unknown that comes with it. I think we hurt each other way more if we at first don't validate our own feelings. 'Cause feelings are irrational and they will not go away even when they don't suit our plans. How can we be in swift minimized hurtful relationships with each other when we can't be in a relationship with ourselves first?"
"Hope" is available now, and features on IIRIS' upcoming EP of the same name, which is out 25 March.
Earlier this year IIRIS played our new music festival with Postiljonen and Francis Lung - read our Q&A with her here.
