Idris Elba announces mixtape inspired by YARDIE film with Newham Generals track "King Fox"
Idris Elba has confirmed a new mixtape inspired by his YARDIE film, and has shared the first single, "King Fox" by Newham Generals.
The new mixtape is inspired by Elba's directorial debut film YARDIE that landed last year.
Featuring 10 tracks, the mixtape sees contributions from Chip, Toddla T, Cadenza, Idris Elba, and more.
The first track to be shared from the mixtape is "King Fox" by Newham Generals - aka D Double E and Footsie.
Each track on the mixtape features dialogue from the film and segments of the original movie score.
Speaking about his mixtape, Elba says, "Making a film as director allowed me, for the first time, to influence the music, in this case reggae. I had the best seat in the house, music and film. So this mixtape is the aftershock of YARDIE, a collection of tunes that extends my love affair with the film. It was a true collaboration and everyone on the tape could relate to YARDIE."
