IDLES preview third album with new cut "Model Village"
IDLES have released new cut "Model Village" as the fourth single to be shared from their forthcoming LP Ultra Mono.
"Model Village" lands with an animated visual directed by Michel and Olivier Gondry in collaboration with WeTransfer.
The new outing follows on from previous singles "A Hymn", "Grounds" and "Mr. Motivator".
Lead singer Joe Talbot says of their latest release, "I hated growing up in a city that was really a town that was really a fishbowl. I left as soon as I could, only to realise the fishbowl didn't exist...just the fish, and they're everywhere."
Ultra Mono will follow on from IDLES' 2019's Mercury Prize-nominated album Joy as an Act of Resistence.
The band recorded the new album in Paris with producers Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire) and Adam 'Atom' Greenspan (Anna Calvi, Cut Copy). Kenny Beats (FKA Twigs, DaBaby, Vince Staples) provided additional programming, and the album features a collaboration with Savages' Jehnny Beth.
A couple of weeks ago, IDLES' bassist Dev and drummer Jon went up against The National's rhythm section (Scott (bass) and Bryan Devendorf (drums)) in the first episode of a new music quiz series called Dumb and Drumber.
