ICYMI: David Bowie announces 25th studio record Blackstar
Over the weekend it emerged that David Bowie will release a new album called Blackstar next year.
The follow up to Bowie's 2013 record The Next Day is apparently just around the corner, though it's much less of a surprise.
The Times report that a "Bowie insider" claims the new record will feature seven tracks, and was recorded at New York's Magic Shop with jazz players. Apparently is sounds “completely bonkers... [it's] an album of long, jazzy jams mixed with the kind of driving beat pioneered by '70s German bands Can and Kraftwerk.”
It looks like Bowie's theme for upcoming Sky Atlantic drama The Last Panthers - called "Blackstar" - may feature on the record. You can hear a clip of that song now.
The first single from Blackstar is expected 19 November. The album itself is slated for release 8 January 2016.
