Icona Pop see post-SXSW boost in Billboard chart
Austin’s SXSW festival is known for breaking bands, so much so that even 90s kid group Hanson were signed on the back of their performance at the showcase back in the day. And now it seems like Sweden’s electro pair Icona Pop are the latest to reap the rewards after a handful of stellar appearances at the event.
Billboard are reporting that the duo’s standout track, ‘I Love It’, has made it into the Top 40 of their Hot 100 chart – moving 17 places from 54th spot to number 37. The single has also racked up 72,000 downloads, a raise of 39% from the previous week.
This follows the group’s recent entrance in Billboard’s Dance/Electronic top ten after being featured in an episode of Girls.
Icona Pop also played their first London show in a year this week. Photos from that gig can be found here.
