Icelandic town opens Jaja Ding Dong bar inspired by the Eurovision film
The Icelandic town of Húsavík has opened its own Jaja Ding Dong bar inspired by the recent Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga film.
"Jaja Ding Dong" is one of the songs that actors Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams perform in the recent Netflix film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.
The track is so catchy that Iceland's Húsavík Cape Hotel in Húsavík has decided to call its outdoor bar area the Jaja Ding Dong bar.
Húsavík Cape Hotel owner Örlygur Hnefill Örlygsson had planned to call the bar something different, but decided to alter the name once he watched the Eurovision film. Örlygsson said, "Do you think that you would not seize such an opportunity when it comes flying at 180 kilometers per hour in your lap?"
He added, "We built an outdoor bar like this by the hotel and gave it a good name. Here you can mainly get beer and drinks, but we also have lighter dishes — both pies and cakes."
The cast and crew shot Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga in Húsavík. Reykjavík Grapevine reports that Will Ferrell and Pierce Brosnan were apparently quite friendly with locals, and spent time with staff while paying the hotel a visit. Örlygsson explained, "It was so much fun here last year when they came to shoot this movie and were hanging out with us a lot."
Speaking about the decision to name the bar after "Jaja Ding Dong", Örlygsson explained, "So naturally, this film comes out that we now see as kind of an ode to the town - especially out of this song ["Húsavík - My Home Town"]. But "Jaja Ding Dong" is of course the hit from the movie. Even though we like the Húsavík song, we are not going to call the bar Húsavík."
