Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor announces new Listen With(out) Piano album
Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor has announce Listen With(out) Piano, a new companion record to last year's Piano.
The LP features 11 new renditions of Piano tracks - the ambient works are sculpted by Papa M's David Pajo, Scritti Politti's Green Gartside, Spring Heel Jack, Beatrice Dillon, Brian DeGraw of Gang Gang Dance, Lung Dart, Mammalien, Susumu Mukai, Betsy Taylor Rupert Clervaux, and Jennifer Herrema.
As well as standing up by themselves, these new reworks can be played together for a totally different experience. Check the video above for more info.
"My brief was both very wide open and very specific, and part of the pleasure for me, and now hopefully for the listeners, is to see how everyone responded so differently to the task," Taylor says. "The results are truly amazing, and here you have a new album that works both as a kind of electro-acoustic ambient companion piece to Piano, and as a series of musical clothes to be put onto the deliberately bare record I released."
