Having been giving away free vinyl at their London store this week, HMV continue their strive to find a foothold in the current music climate by launching a new digitial download service.
The troubled music chain have launched HMV Digital, powered by 7 Digital and aiming to tackle the smartphone market. The franchise hope to compete with iTunes and Amazon with this new service.
Head of Digital at the company, James Coughlan said: ”For the first time, music lovers have the ability to experience the traditional feel of HMV on the high street and have the option to discover and build a digital music collection, delivered and managed across devices, from HMV, the Home Of Entertainment.”
HMV initially went into administration back in January, with several stores shutting and many losing their jobs. They were rescued by financial restructuring group Hilco and are currently in the process of transition between proper owners.
