Helado Negro signs to 4AD, covers Neil Young's "Lotta Love" with Flock Of Dimes
Helado Negro has signed to 4AD, and celebrates the move by unveiling a cover of Neil Young's "Lotta Love" with help from Flock Of Dimes and Devendra Banhart.
Helado Negro, aka Roberto Lange, has shared the Neil Young cover ahead of the US election next week, and to celebrate him signing to 4AD.
The cover features Flock Of Dimes, backing vocals by Devendra Banhart and Adron, and piano by Trey Pollard.
Lange says of the cover, "I was captivated by the song’s sincerity and wondered how to make a version that compelled you to step closer to the words. I wanted it to be hymnal and spiritual outside of religion. I interpreted the theme of the song to be about protection. How do we protect each other? Creating this version helped me find some sonic respite and hopefully it does the same for others."
