Heavenly Recordings to release eco-friendly King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard vinyl
Heavenly Recordings have announced they'll be releasing eco-friendly versions of 10 King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard releases for Love Record Stores Day later this month.
On 20 June, Heavenly Recordings will contribute eco-friendly versions of some of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's albums to Love Record Stores Day. Nine albums and a single from 2014-2017 will be pressed on eco-wax - the material from leftover pallets.
The printed parts of the products will be entirely biodegradable, as the sleeves will be made from recycled board and printed using plant based inks. The plastic wrap usually used to protect the sleeves will be replaced with a recycled brown paper bag.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard vocalist Stu Mackenzie says of the eco-friendly releases, "In 2020, plastic in our oceans, it’s in our soils, it’s in our bodies. The irony of making music that will be pressed on a giant plastic disc is not lost on me. It is a privilege and a responsibility to own this record or any other. Be thoughtful and be kind to Mother Nature. We need her."
The albums being pressed on eco-wax include I'm In Your Mind Fuzz (2014), Quarters! (2015), Paper Mache Dream Balloon (2015), Nonagon Infinity (2016), Flying Microtonal Banana (2017), Murder of the Universe (2017), Sketches of Brunswick East (2017), Polygondwanaland (2017), Gumboot Soup (2017) and the Head On / Pill 12”.
