Hear Big Star's Alex Chilton cover Johnny Cash and Beach Boys from new live album
A new 18-song live LP from late Big Star frontman Alex Chilton is set to be released later this year, showcasing a rare recording of the musician’s 1997 set at New York’s The Knitting Factory.
Entitled Electricity By Candlelight, the collection will come out via Bar/None on 21 October, featuring Chilton’s acoustic take on iconic songs.
Before that release date, you can listen to a four-track sampler below, including the singer-songwriter’s covers of Johnny Cash’s ‘I Walk The Line’ and The Beach Boys’ ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’, among others.
