Har Mar Superstar releases statement following sexual misconduct allegations
Har Mar Superstar, real name Sean Tillmann, has uploaded a statement responding to recent allegations of sexual misconduct.
After several women came forward with accusations of sexual misconduct against Har Mar Superstar (via Star Tribune), the musician has shared a statement that includes a denial of one allegation, as well as an apology "for the harm" he's caused.
Tillman's stated that he categorically denies "the version of events that has been presented in her post" adding that it includes "awful, untrue details that have been added".
Responding to the other claims, Har Mar Superstar wrote that he takes "these claims extremely seriously", and added that he's "deeply sorry to anyone who feels I've hurt them." He continued, "I want to provide my deepest apology and my public commitment to be accountable, to listen, and to do what I can to allow for healing and growth, not only for those women that have come forward, but for our community - and in particular our music community - as a whole."
Later in the statement, Tillmann wrote, "Several years ago, I started a process of being honest with myself about how, fueled by a toxic mixture of alcohol, drugs, and cavalier sexuality, I was harming people around me and failing them and myself. I am profoundly and sincerely sorry for the harm that I have caused."
Towards the end of the statement, the musician added, "Through this time of intense self-reflection, I’ve realised that this type of behaviour is a problem in music and entertainment communities everywhere, and until very recently it was shrugged off as ‘sex, drugs and rock and roll’. That outdated mentality should have never been acceptable, and today I’m embarrassed of the whole concept. I hope to use my situation as an example to help others hold themselves accountable in healing ways."
His final part of the statement reads: "I hope that one day I may earn the forgiveness and trust of those around me in my past, present and future."
