Har Mar Superstar trolls the internet into thinking he's joining The Replacements
The inimitable Har Mar Superstar last night played a little joke on the online world, claiming that he’ll join recently-reformed legendary band The Replacements for their first concerts in 22 years.
Although seeming an unlikely collaboration, many bought into the 35-year old Minnesotan (real name Sean Tillman) taking over guitar duties at Riot Fest 2013, which plays in Toronto (24-25 August), Chicago (13-15 September) and Denver (21-22 September).
Tillman originally posted the so-called “news” on Twitter, writing:
Heading into my first Mats rehearsal! Wish me luck. #ThisIsInsane

He soon conceded it to be a lie, however, later posting:
I’m totally NOT in The Replacements, guys. I was just messing around. The joke got out of hand. Plus, I’m pretty crappy at guitar. Ha!

He also made a tongue-in-cheek remark about a recent hoax regarding Four Tet being the true identity of electronic producer Burial:
Yes. I am Burial.

Tillman recently toured alongside Father John Misty (J.Tillman) with whom he shares a surname but no actual blood relationship.
