Halsey, Mariah Carey and more show support for Britney Spears after conservatorship hearing
Following Britney Spears' conservatorship hearing yesterday (23 June), which marked the first time the star has spoken about it in open court, Halsey, Mariah Carey and more have voiced their support.
Spears spoke about her 13-year conservatorship for the first time in court yesterday (23 June), and discussed how much it has stopped her from living her life, from being able to get pregnant, to taking a break from work.
After the hearing, which saw Spears state that she would "honestly like to sue my family" because of the controlling nature of the conservatorship, other stars in the industry including Halsey, Mariah Carey and more have shared their support.
On Twitter, Carey wrote, "We love you Britney!!! Stay Strong", while Halsey tweeted, "Bless Britney and I hope with my whole heart she is awarded freedom from this abusive system. She deserves it more than anything. I admire her courage speaking up for herself today." Halsey added after, "Additionally, fuck anyone who thinks they have the authority as an institution or individual to control a person’s reproductive health. #FreeBritney"

Spears' ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake also voiced his support on Twitter, writing, "After what we saw today, we should all be supporting Britney at this time. Regardless of our past, good and bad, and no matter how long ago it was… what’s happening to her is just not right. No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body."
"No one should EVER be held against their will… or ever have to ask permission to access everything they’ve worked so hard for," he added. "Jess and I send our love, and our absolute support to Britney during this time. We hope the courts, and her family make this right and let her live however she wants to live."

Courtney Love, who has also been showing support for Spears after revealing she nearly ended up in a similar conservatorship situation herself, shared some messages she received following Spears' statement in court, and wrote, "Deluges of these texts from New York and Los Angeles this morning. Here’s a smattering #FreeBritney"

In another tweet, Love added, "The only people who deserve credit for the 24mins in 13 years Britney Spears was allowed to speak are the #FreeBritney Army and Samantha Stark. She did this almost entirely on her own; used her own money, researched it herself. No one believed her! Now they do #freebritneyarmy."
