H. Grimace detail debut LP Self Architect and share lead single "Land/Body"
London-based post punks H. Grimace are sharing the mighty "Land/Body", the lead single from upcoming debut Self Architect.
The cut is a ferocious slab of driving rhythms and vibrant guitars. It's dark in all the right places, with plenty of depth to explore, but there's a silvery lightness that permeates H. Grimace's shadowy sound.
"'Land/Body' is a song which took inspiration from the idea that we are living through the end of nature and what changes have occured from the likes of mass production and standardisation," the band say of the track. "It delves into the possibilities that this has effected our sense of belonging and roots as Hannah [Gledhill, vocals/guitar] sings ‘Nothing thrives in uniformity’, truly resonating that notion."
Self Architect follows their 2015 tape I Am Material and last year's stellar "Royal Hush" single. The band recorded their LP with Rory Attwell - it was mixed by Attwell and Ben Greenberg, formerly of The Men.
Album track "2.1 Woman" features poet and artist Vivienne Griffin.
H. Grimace currently have a trio of London shows planned - they'll play The Lexington on 17 February with Great Ytene, The Old Blue Last on 26 March, and Rough Trade East on 13 April.
