Gwenno pays tribute to Cornwall with new song "Meur ras dhia Gernow (Thank you from Kernow)"
Gwenno collaborates with Kernow Bedroom Choir and other Cornwall-based singers on new song "Meur ras dhia Gernow (Thank you from Kernow)", which pays tribute to Cornwall on the one-year anniversary of England's first national lockdown.
The song, commissioned by Sound UK, Carn to Cove, intoBodmin and Hall for Cornwall, is Gwenno's first outing of 2021, following her appearance on Manic Street Preachers' updated version of "Spectators of Suicide" in November last year.
Gwenno's track is written in Kernewek (Cornish), and is inspired by people's experiences of living in Cornwall during the global pandemic.
The new song is released as part of Sound UK's A Song for Us national music project, which aims to bring communities together during the pandemic with music inspired by the people of their county. The commissioned tracks will form part of a growing music map of the country.
