Gwenno announces third album with lead single "An Stevel Nowydh"
Gwenno is back with news of her upcoming third album Tresor, and has released "An Stevel Nowydh" as the lead single.
"An Stevel Nowydh" is Gwenno's first new material since collaborating with Kernow Bedroom Choir and other Cornwall-based singers on "Meur ras dhia Gernow (Thank you from Kernow)" last year, and is accompanied by a self-directed video.
Gwenno says of the new outing, ""An Stevel Nowydh: (The New Room) is a song about finding yourself somewhere entirely new and realising that you’re completely lost, and acknowledging that the only thing to do in an existential crisis is to don your favourite hat and dance! The short is part of a longer film that I've created with Anglesey-born filmmaker Clare Marie Baileyv due to be revealed this summer. It was shot on Super 8 in Bryn Celli Ddu, Mynydd Parys, and Porth Ia (St Ives) during Summer 2021, it was edited by Joan Pope and stars the incomparable Eddie Ladd as 'Greddf' (Instinct)."
Tresor will folloow Gwenno's 2018 album Le Kov, and was written in St. Ives, Cornwall before the pandemic in 2020, and completed in Cardiff during the pandemic with her co-producer Rhys Edwards.
According to a press release, Gwenno's new album is about the journey of "rediscovering oneself after the life-changing experience of becoming a mother."
