Gucci Mane to drop three drug-themed mixtapes, inspired by molly, weed and “purple drank”
Ice-cream-face-tattooed rapper, Gucci Mane has announced a trio of high-concept mixtapes – with an emphasis on the high part.
The hip-hop star, who recently turned to acting for a role in Spring Breakers, has revealed he’s dropping three mixtapes individually inspired by molly, weed and purple drank all in one day.
Mane revealed the info on his Instagram page posting a collage of the cover art from the projects. Each narcotic mixtape is as part of a series entitled World War 3, a trilogy that finds Georgia’s most wanted collaborating with three producers and exploring the virtues of three different drugs.
The first, subtitled Molly, is the collaboration between Gucci and ‘Karate Chop’ producer Metro Boomin. Mixtape number two is called Lean and sees the rapper gone back to his old ways by joining forces with long-term producer Zaytoven, while the third, titled Gas, which stands for ‘Good Ass Shit’, pits Mane against 808 Mafia’s TM-88.
Also announced today was Gucci-collaborator and Brick Squad artist Pee Wee Long Way’s forthcoming tape Running Around the Lobby. All tapes are due to drop on 13 August.
