Grimes reveals she wants to "publicly execute" her own stage name in the future
Grimes has revealed that her name c is only temporary, and that she plans to "publicly execute" her music persona in the future.
In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, aka c, has spoken about her new music and Elon Musk.
Having announced her next record Miss_Anthropocene last night, c has now expressed that she's had enough of her music persona Grimes, "I’m super bound by the limits I’ve set for myself [with Grimes]... It would be easier for me if I wasn’t stuck with the branding I made in 2009, you know?"
Later in the interview, she adds, "I think I’ll kill Grimes soon. It will be a public execution followed by — by something else. I shouldn’t say yet."
The interview also brings up Tesla CEO, and c's boyfriend Elon Musk. When Musk's name is mentioned, Boucher groans, and says, "Don’t tell him I groaned just now. I groaned out of, I don’t know, feminism. I mean, he’s a super-interesting goddamn person." A little after, c goes on to state, "And look, I love him."
Miss_Anthropocene will be Grimes' first album since 2015's Art Angels. The album announcement also saw Grimes reveal, "It’s possible I will drop an EP or a few more singles of synth-based stuff b4 the album because its mostly ethereal nu metal (ish), and I know a lot of ppl miss the synths and whatnot."
