Grimes, Japandroids, Carly Rae Jepsen & more win at Canadian Music Week awards
The annual Canadian Music Week was held this past week in Toronto, with the winners of their flagship award ceremony The Indies announced last night (23 March).
Among the big hitters were Japandroids taking home the top prize of ‘Album of the Year’, Carly Rae Jepsen being handed ‘Single of the Year’ for her pop smash-hit ‘Call Me Maybe’ and Metric netting the ‘Group of the Year’ award.
Cold Specks picked up ‘Female Artist of the Year’, while Deadmau5 and Grimes won best ‘Live Artist’ and ‘Electronic Artist’ respectively. Elsewhere, METZ were honoured as ‘Punk/Hardcore Group of the Year’ and The Weeknd was awarded the ‘R&B Artist of the Year’ accolade.
