Grimes, Carly Rae Jepsen, Basia Bulat, and more make Polaris Music Prize shortlist
Grimes, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Basia Bulat are among the 10 shortlisted acts for this year's Polaris Music Prize.
The award, which looks for the best Canadian record from the past 12 months, whittled their 40-strong longlist down to 10. The likes of Drake, Daniel Romano, Justin Bieber, Dilly Dally, and Destroyer didn't make the cut.
Bulat joins Caribou, Drake, Metric, Shad, and Owen Pallett on being shortlisted three times. Black Mountain, Grimes, and Jesse Lanza all celebrate their second nod, while the rest make the grade for the first time.
The final Polaris ceremony takes place on 19 September in Toronto. Last year's prize was scooped by Buffy Sainte-Marie.
