Greentea Peng releases new cut "Spells"
Greentea Peng rounds off her 2020 with new single "Spells", released to coincide with her birthday.
"Spells" is Greentea Peng's first outing since October's "Revolution". The new single features production from KIKO and SAMO, and was written around the release of her 2018 debut EP SENSI.
The new track is accompanied by a Machine Operated-directed visual. Speaking on the single, Greentea Peng says, "On a lighter note, to end the year I release "Spells" AKA beg friend. Written around SENSI times, I guess this one explores the idea of tribalism and the want / illusion or desire to please everyone, thus gain acceptance. The process of travelling through that and coming out of the other end rather comfortable in yourself. "
Greentea Peng continues, "As someone who has struggled as a yute with wanting to ‘fit in’ this was kind of a final purge of that stage in my ego development. But also its about the idea of casting spells with negative language and behaviours we adopt and use about/towards our peers. Words are vibrations at the end of the day and it's called S P E L L I N G for a reason."
As well as releasing "Revolution", Greentea Peng has also released "Hu Man", collaborated with The Streets on "I Wish You Loved You As Much As You Love Him" in June, released "Ghost Town" in March, and featured on p-rallel's Soundboy EP track "soulboy". She's also yet to follow up her 2019 EP RISING.
