Google have added music streaming website, Grooveshark to its auto-complete blacklist.
Type “Grooveshark” into Google and the search engine won’t suggest it as a possible searched-for term.
The on-demand track playback provider streams over 15 million songs and while the company has tried to build bridges with labels and artists, it remains distinctly un-legitimate by DMCA standards.
Google haven’t gone as far as blocking the site’s appearance on the search results page – a measure they’ve imposed in the past on Swedish site The Pirate Bay. The move signals efforts to protect Google’s development of Google Play among record labels and movie studios.
