Goodyear blimp to pay tribute to Ice Cube
The world-famous Goodyear blimp is set to pay homage to rapper Ice Cube after a recent online campaign.
The former N.W.A man referenced the advertising aircraft in his 1992 song “It Was A Good Day”, with the lyrics reading:
“Even saw the lights of the Goodyear Blimp
And it read “Ice Cube’s a Pimp”
An internet-led petition sought for the company to run those words in neon lights, but the tire company have decided to make a compromise.
The blimp will now fly the message “It Is A Good Day” on 20 January in aid of a children’s charity. A letter from Goodyear reads: “It was a unique offer and it caught our attention, and we decided to take Ice Cube up on his offer”.
