Glastonbury allowed to increase capacity for next year

In February, the Mendip District Council gave Glastonbury the green light to expand its capacity to 210,000, as long as the extra attendees travel by public transport.

Today it's been announced that those 7000 extra tickets will be up for grabs for 2020.

As Resident Advisor reports, the capacity will be a 3.4 percent increase from last year's event, which 203,000 people attended.

The festival is yet to confirm whether it has accepted the expansion for next year.

In April, Michael Eavis hinted that Paul McCartney could be a headliner choice for 2020, which will be the 50th anniversary of the iconic festival.

Responding to the rumours earlier this month on BBC Radio 2, McCartney said, "I’d have to put a few things in place and try and do that but it’s starting to become some sort of remote possibility. I mean it’s definitely not fixed yet but people are starting to talk about it."
