Glass Animals' "Heat Waves" breaks Billboard Hot 100 chart record previously held by the Spice Girls

Glass Animals, who are up for Best New Artist at this year's Grammys, have broken a Billboard Hot 100 chart record with previously held by the Spice Girls in 1997 with their "Heat Waves" song.

As Popcrave notes, "Heat Waves" has become the first song by a British group to top the Billboard chart for multiple weeks since Spice Girls' "Wannabe" in 1997. The track has spent 60 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart so far, and has topped the chart for the past two weeks.

Glass Animals originally released "Heat Waves" in summer 2020, and it featured on their Dreamland album in the same year. iann dior also hopped on an updated version of the track in March last year.

In December last year, Uswitch published a report claiming "Heat Waves" has produced over 3000 tons of carbon emissions, and would need over 128,000 trees to absorb the carbon output in one year.
