Frank Ocean tears vocal cord, forced to cancel Australian tour
R&B golden boy, Frank Ocean has announced his current tour of Australia has been scrapped after one show, following “medical advice due to vocal issues”.
The singer told fans at last night’s gig at Melbourne’s Festival Hall that he was “ill” before a statement was released that he had “suffered a small tear to one of his vocal chords”.
The cancelled shows include another date at Festival Hall, as well as two shows at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, originally planned for next week. Refunds are available for these shows at the point of purchase.
A full statement on the matter reads:
“After last night’s concert in Melbourne at Festival Hall, it was necessary to seek medical advice due to vocal issues Frank Ocean experienced during the show.
It has subsequently been confirmed that Frank has suffered a small tear to one of his vocal chords and has received medical advice that he must rest his voice.”
Ocean recently headlined two dates at London’s Brixton Academy before performing at the city’s Wireless Festival later in the same week.
