Frank Ocean named most influential gay man in music
American magazine Out has named Frank Ocean in their ’2013 Power List’ of the most influential gay men and women in the world.
The magazine’s 7th annual list aims to rank the “gay men and women whose power and prestige is instrumental in influencing the way Americans think about, and engage with, the world”. After coming out last year as bi-sexual in an open letter released via blog post, he certified himself as one of the most important creatives making music today with the stunning, critically acclaimed Channel Orange (reviewed by Best Fit here).
Ocean placed at number 10, the highest placed musician on the list. Apple CEO Tim Cook topped the list for the third consecutive year (despite having not made any public announcements about his sexuality), with Ellen DeGeneres coming up second, with writer and director Ryan Murphy claiming third place.
