Foxygen announce new album with lead cut "Livin' a Lie"
California duo Foxygen have announced their sixth album Seeing Other People, and question an appetite for fame on new cut "Livin' a Lie".
"Livin' a Lie" is the first single to be shared from Foxygen's new record, which follows on from 2017's Hang.
Reflecting on a fame-hungry lifestyle from an outside perspective, "Livin' a Lie" lands with visuals directed by Alessandra Lichtenfeld that sees vocalist Sam France stroll around an empty mansion before finding himself amongst the rubble of the building destroyed by the Woolsey fires last November.
Seeing Other People was written and produced by France and other Foxygen member Jonathan Rado at Sonora Recorders, before being engineered and mixed by Shawn Everett.
They describe their new record as "Sad-Boy Plastic-Soul Adult-Contemporary Cartoon-Noir Music", and reveal it features contributions from legendary session drummer Jim Keltner.
Expanding on the new record title in a post online, France says, “For me Seeing Other People just means goodbye: Goodbye to the drugs, to the partying. Goodbye to my twenties now, Goodbye to my Saint Laurent-model-body. Goodbye to the touring circus — that’s right, no more shows or tours for a while. Goodbye, hopefully, to the anxiety attacks. Goodbye to beating myself up because I didn’t fit into those leather pants anymore. Fuck it. Goodbye to the facilities. And goodbye the leeches in my life."
