Four Tet producing new Omar Souleyman album
Omar Souleyman has revealed that he’s been working on his first ever studio-recorded album, and he couldn’t be in better company to do so either, confirming that Four Tet will be manning production duties for the release.
“The lyrics are about love and relationships,” Souleyman recently told SPIN. “All of the lyrics on the albums, and the ones I sing during parties, are all about love and affection between people. Here they don’t understand that, but I believe its possible they can feel it.”
Kieran Hebden also spoke to the publication about working with the Syrian musician, saying: “The making of this album was a very simple and natural thing. For me was just about capturing the sound of these incredible musicians in the moment.”
But fans shouldn’t expect anything too distant to the music that has been championed by the likes of Bjork. “Everywhere we go it’s the same,” Souleyman adds. “Recording in America doesn’t change anything.”
Recording for the yet-untitled album has been taking place in Brooklyn, it’ll be released on Ribbon Music this September.
