Former Threatin band members have successfully sued frontman Justin Eames
After last year's huge scam, two of the former Threatin band members have successfully sued Justin Threatin.
Threatin made the headlines last year after the former group members revealed the details behind Justin Threatin's elaborate hoax.
The band frontman managed to fake a fanbase and tour, which included a "sold out" show at London's Underworld in Camden, which was in fact empty aside from Threatin's wife, the sound engineer, and the Underworld employees.
After the whole scam was unearthed, Threatin continued to ride the publicity wave, and announced a second show at Underworld for November 2019.
Two of the former members of Threatin, guitarist Joe Prunera, and former drummer Dane Davis, have managed to successfully sue the Threatin ringleader, aka Justin Eames, according to MetalSucks.
Prunera was reported to have been awarded $10,000, which is the maximum amount in a small claims court, as well as $250 in court fees, while Davis gained $3,975.29.
Davis's mother also managed to sue Eames, receiving $4,035.66 for the money spent on flying her son back from the hoax tour in Europe, and the flights she booked to a Threatin show in Ireland.
Both Justin Eames and his wife, who were both in on the hoax, failed to appear in court despite multiple notices. Prunera told MetalSucks that he reckons the couple just sent the letters back, writing "not deliverable as addressed" on the notices.
In classic Threatin fashion, the scam band frontman has revealed he's searching for a new guitarist, with a ridiculous list of requirements. You can count yourself out if you're "from Montana", "a vegan", or if you've "ever said "lol" out loud".
