Former Death Cab for Cutie guitarist Chris Walla announces new solo record
Chris Walla, the former guitarist/producer for Death Cab For Cutie, has announced his first solo record since his departure from the indie stalwarts earlier this year.
Walla's shared an almost-seven-minute lead track called "Kanta's Theme" - it's a glossy melange of swirling ambience, carefully considered notes, and tranquil melodies.
Explaining the new project in Interview, in a chat with Sara Quin (Tegan and Sara), Walla elaborated on his relationship with Death Cab and why he left.
Walla worked on the band's recent record Kintsugi, but left before it was finished. You can read our interview and find out what impact his departure had on the band.
Tape Loops is set for release on 16 October on his own Trans Records.
